Fort Greene is a neighborhood that embraces its economic and racial diversity with a fierce and loyal local pride. Stretching from Flushing Avenue to Atlantic Avenue, between Ashland Place and Clermont Avenue, the atmosphere in Fort Greene is vibrant, laidback and welcoming. Thanks to the BAM cultural district, the neighborhood is also earning a much-deserved reputation as Brooklyn’s cultural capital.
Real estate in the neighborhood runs the gamut from non-descript aluminum clad row houses to classic brownstones to grand mansions surrounding centrally located Fort Greene Park. A tremendous number of new development condo and rental buildings are cropping up in the region, especially along the BAM cultural district and Atlantic Yards areas.
While lower Fort Greene benefits from the multiple train lines at Atlantic Terminal, subway service is notably absent in the northwest portion of the neighborhood.
